AECC (Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer) – Barcelona province

A major national charity offering support for cancer patients and their friends and family, closely associating with local health authorities and who also have a presence in most hospitals with cancer patients. Services in Barcelona city include companionship and visiting help, practical, social and psychological support, and physiotherapy. Services are generally in Spanish and/or Catalan, however English speakers can sometimes be found to assist in certain cases, especially written questions, and if you have the assistance of a Spanish speaker to translate, more extensive support can be given. Outside Barcelona city there are four area centres focussing on social, practical and psychological support -In Vilanova i Geltrú for the Garraf/Sitges area as well; in Mataró for the Maresme east coast area and two more area centres in Igualada and Granollers.
