Flora Acoge
The Flora Acoge foundation offers an important range of support. This includes a day centre offering breakfast & lunch, a night shelter for temporary accommodation and a recently started programme to help elderly people at home. Services are in Spanish but a person can come initially with a friend to help translate. The philosophy is one of mutual respect and users are encouraged to help take care of themselves. 1) Meal centre
The following services are offered:
Showers, breakfast and laundry: Monday to Friday 08:15 to 10:00, except public holidays.
Lunch
Social Worker: Offers information, guidance and assessment using Flora Acoge’s own or external resources. An action plan is agreed with each person, covering social, work, psychological and learning needs. Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 10:30 to 13:30; please arrive before 11:30 to ensure you are seen.
Psychological support: Personalised attention, Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 12:00. Please book an appointment in advance.
Clothes Bank
Everyone using the facilities at Flora Acoge is asked to share in keeping them clean and tidy.
2) Shelter
The “Flora Guadalupe Toledo” Shelter is on Calle Muyay 4, Altavista, Arrecife.
It is recommended in the first instance to be seen at the meal centre.
Temporary accommodation is offered as well as food and personal hygiene facilities.
3) The project to keep older people on their own company
This project, called in Spanish, “Acompañamiento a Mayores en Soledad” has been created to help support those living alone and of little means with preparing meals and company.
