The Instituto Nacional de Seguridad Social (INSS), (Spanish Social Security office), records and controls entitlement to state-funded health and welfare care. It is also possible to call (0034) 901 106570 (in Spanish) for a reserved appointment, however appointments may not always be available this way and it may be better to go in person. These is also a national helpline (0034) 901502050 open in the mornings (in Spanish).
UK nationals resident in Spain will need to visit their nearest Spanish Social Security office to receive documentation that proves their right to receive Spanish state-funded health care. Please see our Helpful Topics section or www.healthcareinspain.eu/living-in-spain/ for more details. For example, people in receipt of a UK pension and living in Spain need to present their S1 form from the UK Social Security here to verify their entitlement to Spanish health care.
