Sur Acoge is a federation of local charities located in most parts of Andalucía that specialise in helping migrants, usually from countries outside the EU, who are at risk of vulnerability or social exclusion, as well as integrating them into the community.

Exact programmes will vary by each local charity. Generally all can offer support with particularly complex residency permission issues for those already living in Spain without the correct legal status who do not have enough money and knowledge to get other help to try to solve the problem or understand the Spanish system. For example, they can provide advice for residents who do not have proper residency permission about the “arraigo social” route to legal residency for those who can prove strong links to Spain or family reunification.

Some of the local groups may have English speakers available when you get in touch, but this cannot always be guaranteed, so it could be useful to contact with the help of a Spanish-speaking friend or be prepared to use a mobile phone to help translate if you do not speak Spanish.
